PETITION TO: President of the Republic of South Africa, His Excellency Jacob Zuma
ubject: Tangible Results in 2013 Please

His Excellency President Zuma

We would like to congratulate you Mr. President on your re-election as the President of the ANC. Furthermore, we would like to thank you for your committed effort as the SADC appointed facilitator to the Zimbabwe Crisis. We are encouraged that you have taken an unwavering stance to see democracy and the will of the Zimbabwean people come to fruition.

It is our humble opinion Mr. President that the ANC as a party and the people of South Africa in general have reiterated their confidence in your leadership. We ask Mr. President that you tap into that political capital and be firm in your mediation efforts in the Zimbabwe crisis. We urge you Mr. President to outline without ambiguity when and how the outstanding GPA reforms should be implemented and the subsequent punitive measures you will personally recommend to SADC for the failure by the Zanu PF led Zimbabwean government to honor this agreement.

We are saddened and concerned about the continued suppression of freedoms by the Mugabe regime which has waged a war against its own people as we move towards the 2013 Constitutional Referendum and Elections. There are numerous gross violations of human rights that continue to take place in Zimbabwe on a daily basis and seem to continue unabated.

We are hopeful that you Mr. President, a man who respects human life and dignity will be at the forefront to stop the scourge that continues to consume our nation. We are hopeful Mr. President that you will continue to stand on the side of the suffering masses, and stop further persecution and loss of innocent lives.

Zimbabweans have placed their trust in you, the people of South Africa and the family of Southern African countries under SADC to take the loss of limb and life in Zimbabwe as a matter of urgency. We urge you Mr. President to call for a SADC Peacekeeping Force before the referendum and after the elections. We certainly do not want to see a repeat of the 2008 violence that left many of our people dead. We also urge you Mr. President to advocate for the protection of the vote by allowing international observers to monitor the elections in Zimbabwe.

Zimbabweans are a peace loving people; all they ask for Mr. President is the restoration of their basic fundamental rights to human dignity, justice, rule of law and opportunity. We look forward to an official, mutually beneficial response from your office.

Thank You

For and On Behalf of the People of Zimbabwe
