Campaigns
The Zimbabwe Vigil Coalition has carried out several high profile
campaigns and many more are planned for the near future. We are
fortunate to be living in a country where freedom of expression
is a given and are constantly aware that this basic right is completely
denied our fellow Zimbabweans still living under the yoke of Mugabe's
regime.
Over time details of all our campaigns both past and future will
be listed here. Please follow the links below for reports and statements
relating to our recent campaigns.
- The Freedom
Bus - a double-decker bus was hired to drive sixty or so Zimbabweans
through London to the House of Parliament and United Nations so
that copies of the 16 000 signiture petition gathered during recent
Vigils could be handed over.
- A Day in Paris
- a dozen ZVC activists travelled to Paris in February to protest
against the French Government's decision to invite Mugabe to the
Franco-African Summit in direct contravention of EU sanctions.
- Chihuri Interpol
Campaign - Augustine Chihuri, the Zimbabwean Commissioner
for Police has done the right thing and has given up his title
as Honarary Vice President of Interpol largely due to the continuing
controversy the title has caused and to aviod the politicization
of Interpol. Well done everyone who sent letters and e-mails.
SW Radio Africa reports that there was a huge public outcry. A
small victory perhaps, but a victory nevertheless and an indication
that people-power does have an effect. Click
